The compilation features the cream of the material the star recorded between 1969 and 1987. David Bowie remains impossible to pigeonhole - first there was Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, a White Soul Boy and a Thin White Duke. He went on to invent synth-pop with Tony Visconti and Brian Eno and then disappeared behind the make-up of Pierrot when the New Romantics mixed all of his eras together. And then, he became a truly global megastar in the 80s. This collection contains four UK No. 1s, 15 Top 10, six Top 20 and 14 Top 75 hits; 338 weeks of UK chart history. But David Bowie could never be contained by statistics alone: any collection that contains Starman, the Jean Genie, Fame, 'Heroes', Sound and Vision, Ashes to Ashes, Under Pressure and Let's Dance spells it plainly - this is a collection of some of the greatest and best-known music of the 20th Century by one of it's very finest performers. 57 tracks in total. EMI. 2005. Review: Please ignore the bad reviews!! - First could I point out to all that Ralph Owens who gave this 1 star, seems to have confused a review with his personal opinion of David Bowie. Love him or hate him, this box set is still a 5-star collection and well put together, plus great value too! Why would you buy Bowie's greatest hits if you hate his music? Clearly Mr Owens is a bit special. Second, Robbo who gave it 2 stars, seems to think this is a live album. It's quite obviously not, Robbo is clearly a bit special. This collection is excellent, especially if you like Bowie and have none of his albums. Five special stars. Review: David Bowie is not cool - I have never been a big fan but have liked some of his singles. I saw this album on ofer and decided what the hell it's pretty cheap. My life has been full of bad decisions and buying this album was definitely not one of them! I cannot believe that I only thought of him as a "so so" artiste. On my MP3 player nearly all the tracks have so much depth and are so enjoyable. Why did I waste so much time not appreciating his music before? This will remain a mystery to me,but hey I can always listen to these tacks now. If in doubt buy............ I said buy, you will not regret it ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B000BEPLUO | | Best Sellers Rank | 728 in CDs & Vinyl ( See Top 100 in CDs & Vinyl ) 5 in Glam Rock 70 in Compilations 96 in Pop Rock | | Country of origin | France | | Customer reviews | 4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars (1,298) | | Is discontinued by manufacturer | No | | Label | EMI | | Manufacturer | EMI | | Manufacturer reference | 9463440762 | | Number of discs | 1 | | Original Release Date | 2008 | | Product Dimensions | 14.48 x 12.32 x 2.36 cm; 190.51 g | ## Images ![Platinum Collection - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51ukJqTEw2L.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Please ignore the bad reviews!! *by J***W on 30 January 2016* First could I point out to all that Ralph Owens who gave this 1 star, seems to have confused a review with his personal opinion of David Bowie.
