In as sense, the "steel sheep" response is correct, it's SO cold on the Yorkshire Downs, where the sheep are sent to pasture, that their wool hardens and "freezes" into steel. **Q: I am looking for a steel wool that will rust quickly when placed in vinegar (weathering new wood). Is this actually steel or synthetic?** A: This product is indeed a metallic product. It will rust and can help you create the patina that you are looking for. Good luck with your project. **Q: I want to use it to block openings to keep out mice and rats.. What grade would be best?** A: Hello - we recommend our #4 steel wool for this application. Please order Red Devil # 0317 for a 16 pad pack or # 0327 for an 8 pad pack. Thanks!Red Devil **Q: is this product good for washing pots and pans** A: It's very fine. I use it to clean some nice copper pieces I own. I don't think it would be good for more than one or two pot scrubbings. It's very easy to pull apart. ## Frequently Bought Together - Red Devil 0323 Steel Wool, 0 Fine (Pack of 8), Gray - Homax 10120000 Steel Wool, 12 pad, Grade #0000, Rhodes American, Final Finish - Great Stuff 99112809 Smart Dispenser Pestblock, Gray --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pt/products/10343348-red-devil-0323-steel-wool-0-fine-pack-of-8](https://www.desertcart.pt/products/10343348-red-devil-0323-steel-wool-0-fine-pack-of-8) --- *Product available on Desertcart Portugal* *Store origin: PT* *Last updated: 2026-10-04*
