It was a bit of a pain to install. The tolerances are pretty tight, but once it’s on it feels like it’s not going anywhere. It was easy to zero and was pretty close right after install. The green laser is BRIGHT. Much more then the same model in red. I haven’t taken it to the range yet, it’s been too cold. But as soon as I do I will update this review. I currently have a leather holster on order that says it will fit the 642 with the Lasermax installed, but I can’t comment on that until I receive it and try it out for a bit. But I highly recommend this for your snub nose. It allows me to find my targets faster and makes it easier to deal with the 642’s short sight radius. ### ⭐ Very Disappointed *by H***7 on Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2015* What a disappointment! I wanted to like this even though it seemed sub par in quality to the Crimson Trace and Viridian lasers that I have. I liked the smooth couture of the laser, but the darn thing would not fit properly on my S&W J-Frame. After getting it to fit the best I could, I took it to the range and due to the poor fit, the top of the laser kept coming off the frame. The instructions say to make sure there is not gap between the barrel and the top of the laser, but I could not eliminate the gap and still attach to the lower part of the laser to the trigger guar. Plus, the beam was much weaker than my Viridian green lasers. My Viridian lasers were showing up clearly on the targets and I couldn't see this one until I got about 5 yards away - yes I tried a new battery. Maybe I just got a lemon, but I was completely dissatisfied and sent it back. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Once I got it aligned properly and screwed it together it's feels like it's glued on *by R***R on Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2015* I got the laser as a gift. Fits perfectly on a 642. It was a little tricky to get it on because it fits so tight. Once I got it aligned properly and screwed it together it's feels like it's glued on. Unfortunately, snow has kept me from the range to testing it out. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pt/products/10391230-lasermax-centerfire-laser-for-s-and-w-j-frame-g](https://www.desertcart.pt/products/10391230-lasermax-centerfire-laser-for-s-and-w-j-frame-g) --- *Product available on Desertcart Portugal* *Store origin: PT* *Last updated: 2026-10-22*
