We have taken this apart and put it together many times -- there is no problem to troubleshoot. Start working backwards. Is the battery in right side up? Start undoing the robot in reverse -- make sure the connections are good. I hope that helps. I am not the person who assembles the robot -- it's my sure-handed son. **Q: How much of the robot do they actually assemble?** A: There is quite a bit of assembly to do, but nothing difficult for an adult. I have taught robotics camp using this as a project and found that some of the 2nd & 3rd-grade kids need lots of help while others did nearly all of the assembly on there own. In conclusion, most kids younger than 4th grade will need at least a little help, but older kids and adults should make quick work of it. **Q: Approximately how long does it take a 9 year old child to complete this robot?** A: Two of my students ages 9 and 10 each built one of these during recess time. One finished after 4 recesses (20 minutes each) and the other took 5 recesses and needed a little help.
