I set up some cameras to observe their running patterns and entry points. I figured that you can't just set up the boards and hope that the rats will smell the bait and go for it. I've found that you have to set up the boards where they like to run, as they're creatures of habit. So I put the glue boards where I knew they would run over. I've caught about 4 so far on separate days. The video I attached also shows that they don't know the glue board is in their path - they just happen to run over it and get caught. It's super strong too, because I've gotten my shoe stuck on it, and you have to use a LOT of human strength to pull it away. As long as their feet get stuck on it, they'll get even more stuck. However, if it's just the tail that gets caught, they can drag it away and run really fast to get out of the glue. It happened to one other rat where I literally saw its tail stuck on the board, but it was dragging it across the kitchen. It saw me, and ran away really fast and got out of the glue board. The mice cannot get away once they step on it. I have caught 2 mice on multiple traps if I leave the first dead mouse for a day or two (after that it starts to stink). The instructions say to remove the little brown buttons, close the trap, and then reopen the trap before you bait/place it. I have big hands and it take some effort to pry the trap open again without destroying the cardboard.
