Tito and His Comrades

To make long story short: If you need to be well informed about Yugoslavia in retrospective, having in mind that Yugoslavia was factor of Balkan and World stability you should read the book, before Balkan powder keg explodes again.

Difficult read; little about the man... more about historical specifics.

A great biography on a man that helped create the country I was born in. Glad I got to know his story.

The author did a great job..It is probably the best book on Tito one can find..it is very objective...and very detailed backed by vast refernce material.

I expected this book as a long awaited biography about Tito because I could not read the Slovenian version. I found this biography very thorough and well researched. I am really lacking even the mentioning of the Hungarian issues in Yugoslavia: the Tito partisans' revenge by killing 40000 guiltless Hungarian civilians in 1944, the GULAG for the expelled Germans of Vojvodina when the second world war finished. I do not think that there was not enough space in the book given the length of it. I just hope that Mr. Pirjevec will not "forget" to mention these issues in his even longer new book about the partisans coming out recently. Mr. Pirjevec you cannot be so one sided as a respected historian.
