If it got any better it would approach artisanal quality.The leather is very dark and beautiful. It has a very soft pleasant feel. And, a soft pleasant leather smell that can only be detected if you press it up to your face :)The wood finish is a medium dark walnut with smoky highlights and a hint of red for a slight warmth. It has a nice satin luster that is tasteful and not too shiny. It looks wonderful.It has four small felt feet to protect the desk.The feet are small enough that the pad doesn't slide around when I use the laptop. But, I wish they were a little larger to spread the load. Also, the wood pieces are not the highest quality. Had to glue one back together with wood glue.
