Review: Super Solid Handheld Microscope, Highly Recommend - This is an absolutely incredible product. I work in a STEM background, so I love my gadgets and gizmos. I've always wanted a small, pocket-sized microscope. A vendor came to show us some product, and they used one of these in their demonstration. Right after that meeting, I bought one of these. I have not been disappointed. the viewfiender is very easy to work with and much to my surprise the smartphone attachment accessory actually WORKS. I managed to get some pretty high quality images off of my phone (I decided to NOT add those here since I know some people can get squeamish at highly zoomed in images; this microscope would not be for them). It's quite small, so I keep it on my work desk to view things in the field. This would be a very fun toy/gift for both kids and adults alike. It's very affordable, very accessible, and I even bought a few more through my work account to give as gifts for clients who visit. The one thing I am not as sold on is the UV side of it. I've had no use for that part, nor the slides since I don't do samples that would require that. Other than that, This is a very nice product that I highly recommend. I wanted to explore the microcosmos, but not spend a whole lot of money, and also use something beginner-friendly. These microscopes do just that, the optics are fantastic for the price, and the “point and shoot” functionality makes exploring the microscopic world as easy as just asking, “I wonder what this looks like under the scope?” I don’t understand the reviews saying this is hard to use. These people probably haven’t used a microscope before. It can be tedious, and it takes patience and practice, but when you get the hang of it, it is a breeze (it definitely takes a second to get used to the inverted movements). Using the phone camera clip isn’t the easiest, but with some patience and using both hands to take pictures/videos and adjusting focus as you go, you can get some cool shots! As I mentioned, I got both mobile microscopes that Carson sells, and I think you should too. The Microbrite 60x - 120x, I think, is the most useful for beginners. What people don’t tell you when you start the search for microscopes is that more magnification isn’t always better. Sometimes less is more, and when you want to look at something not super small, this microscope lets you see the bigger things way better. The Microslide 100x - 250x is perfect if you really want to see some small things. (You won’t see bacteria or viruses fyi) In the 12 hours of having these microscopes, I looked at paper, salt, a burnt CD, and some grout in my shower that got a little moldy, and to my surprise, it is home to mold mites. I use them when sharpening Japanese tools and kitchen knives to a very fine edge, and both of these let me see what I’d really going on at the apex of the edge. I’m very pleased. Both are legit magnification (unlike some deceptive import loupes with ridic stated specs. These are the real deal. The 100x-250x is indeed super magnified to the point of being a challenge to use. It if this much magnification is needed, it delivers.
