Review: Good product. For those trying to decide whether to get this 'L' version or the other read on... - Well made and works great. No noise. Some smart design features: it has no switches and it switches on when plugged in. Pairing is achieved just by plugging one unit into the other and they can be charged in this way too, meaning they require only one lead. All good ideas. Compared to a lot of the cheaper units, the battery is clearly physically bigger (and probably of higher quality) which will be why Boss can claim 10 hours of operating time. I tried two cheaper makes before buying this: The Lekato WS-70 and the Getaria one: The WS-70 has rave reviews everywhere but it did horrible things to my sound despite otherwise working well - it squashes out all the attack and is dull. The Getaria is great for its cheap price but it's a little noisy when used with distortion and the construction is somewhat flimsy compared to the Boss. I agonised over whether to buy this version or the version which simulates the treble roll-off caused by the capacitance of a lead. Even Boss' own sites contradict themselves a bit, with one saying the 'L' stands for low impedance and the other saying the only difference is the treble cut. After watching a Youtube video of a guy comparing the other one to a good lead, it seemed more like it was simulating a curly lead from the 1970s. The treble roll of was too much so I opted for this one - which they recommend as being for active guitars and synths etc. My own comparisons found this to be very similar to using a good quality lead so I don't really see the point of the other one. Why they didn't just make one model and put a switch on it for that I don't know. Also, on this 'L' version, the transmitter is a different colour to the receiver which seems like a useful and obvious thing to do, whilst on the other version they are the same. Unless you think that a fairly substantial treble cut would be a good thing for you I would buy this one. UPDATE Have now done four or five gigs with the system and it's been flawless. Worth the extra money over the cheaper systems.
Review: Excellent, for performing. - Very easy to set up, long time to charge (6hrs) but last for at least 3 or 4 hours live playing or practice. Maybe more if you need it. Boss quality built, and fit several different guitars 🎸

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Hello the model in the picture is the wl-20 but the description says wl-20L which is light grey. I want the black one you have pictures a wl-2O ?**
A: The WL20L (Grey receiver) is more suited to acoustic instruments with active preamps . L=low impedance.

**Q: Will the 20L work with a passive piezo pickup having a high impedance output. Can it work with the charger connected.**
A: Hi it works with a piezo pickup on my electric violin but interestingly is a bit lively.

I have never tried using whilst main is plugged in.

**Q: I think I’ve mistakenly bought the wrong version as all my guitars have battery preamps fitted - am I better off with the L version?**
A: Do the ones you have work? If they do, then keep them.
For me, they worked well on all of my guitars that have both active and passive systems with magnetic pick ups but didn’t work at all with instruments with active piezo pick ups (loud buzzing noise).
You will just have to try them on every combination you have. I wanted them for use principally on my Godin encore nylon thru a Roland ac60 and they did not work (active/piezo) so sent them back; all other combinations (fender, Gibson, status graphite, wal and others) were ok, including basses, thru many different amps).

**Q: The dimensions (4 x 12 x 16 cm) and photos suggest it's fairly chunky. How convenient specifically is the transmitter when plugged into the guitar?**
A: Hi and thanks for noticing this error in the specs. The correct dimensions of the transmitter are 87mm(w) x 22mm(d) x 36mm(h) and it weighs just 43g or 2oz. The units are really quite small. The width measurement includes the jack plug which is inserted inside your guitar's jack socket. Hope this helps!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent and robust
*by D***S on 20 July 2021*

This is a robust and compact wireless cable replacement. extremely well made and works well over long distances (10m through solid walls). Works perfectly with passive pick-ups on my Gretsch, Ibanez and Yamaha guitars. The WL-20 version (supposedly for passive pick-ups) made a fairly loud buzzing noise through the amp so I exchanged it for this which solved the problem. Oh, and it might knock out your WIFI while you’re using it too- so be warned!
