My one negative is that the guard stand screw hits the tile if you're cutting any steeper than about 30 degrees, so you have to take the splash guard off to cut steeper angles (but if you're afraid of water, don't use a wet saw). It's a minor inconvenience that doesn't affect most general usage. The water pan is a bit shallow but if you keep a reload handy, it's adequate. I'm used to overhead saws with continuous feed so that may just be me. It will do the job for sure, though. Has plenty of power. I've only cut porcelain on it a few times, but it went right through and didn't chip. It's perfect for home improvement stuff. I'd recommend this saw over the other flat saws I've used. It's a great value for the money. If you've got a good eye and a steady hand, you could cut large tiles on this. I did. The material is not an issue -- I use it to cut agates and quartz up to a couple inches in size. I purchased a Ridgid 7" blade from Home Depot. The Ridgid blade make cleaner cuts and wastes less material because it is a thinner blade.Also, Skil just came out with a new updated model of this saw. I would suggest purchasing that saw instead because it has some much needed improvements. The saw cut through the tiles easily, at a feed rate of a bit over 1/4" per second - about 40 seconds for a through cut on the 12x12 tiles - without bogging down. That was fast enough for me, since I only needed to cut six tiles - four with straight cuts and two with 90 degree L cuts - for the drink well. I like the stainless steel table that will never rust, but I do wish that the table was larger - as it couldn't handle the short side of the L cuts, and I had to do them freehand. I wanted the cuts as straight and aligned as possible, so the cut edges will line up nicely to the wood I will use as outside molding without any gaps. It would have been nice to have a larger table that could accommodate these cuts. I taped the line to cut, and freehand-cut the short side - carefully staying right on the tape line, and was able to get a nearly-perfect straight cut of 4 3/4" The double-fastener rip fence is a bit of a chore to set, because you have to align and fasten each end separately - but once fastened it is extremely stable and will not move for repeated cuts. I did not use the miter gauge, so I can't comment on that feature. The supplied 7" blade has a 1/8" kerf, which was fine for the granite tiles I was cutting. Thin-kerf blades are widely available though, for cutting delicate porcelain or glass tiles. One feature that I do not really like all that much is the fixed water tray. I have used other brands of tile saws that have removable water trays, and I like that approach better because it makes cleaning the saw easier. That's just a minor thing though. The garden hose did a fine job of clean up. All in all, I think this is a good little saw for the money for small-to-medium DIY jobs.
