Transmission seal diameter is precision machined after heat treatment to ensure correct surface finish, promoting long seal life. Review: Perfect fit - It is a very solid, sturdy axle as far as the way an axle should be. Installation was on a 2001 Ford Escape XLT. Remember to change the seal if your changing out your axle and coat the seal perimeter with silicone sealant plus check the bushing to see if that needs replacing. Review: Decent cv axle for my 2003 ford escape but read on - Cardone always has decent aftermarket stuff this cv is no different. I removed the old cv with torn boots and chiseled out the support bushing with a cold chisel. Replaced the bushing and trans output seal and popped this cv in. Works real good i thought it sprang a leak of trans fluid after i topped off but i had knocked the trans speed sensor off kilter and thats where the fluid came from. If you have a axle leak at the trans remember to change the support bushing behind the seal the wobble of the cv is what most likely is causing a leak there.
