Depending on the thickness of the piece it can take days or more than a week to completely set in a mold, but once hard it's not going to change shape at all. The clay is more flexible the thinner it is. A piece 1/4" thick or more has some give to it but is not at all soft or rubbery. This is perfect for my needs...it's basically a flexible & unbreakable light plastic that is worlds better than plaster for my application. **Q: Does this product shrink? If so by how much does it shrink.** A: Not too much. **Q: Can i soften this clay with water?** A: Very little water will do otherwise it get's very messy and hard to work with when too wet. Usually if the clay is hard, I throw it out. I find that keeping the wrapper on and placing in a freezer back is very helpful. I also keep my clay in a drawer where it is dark. Hope this helps. **Q: Can this product be used in outdoor projects? Is it waterproof after drying?** A: I have only used it to substitute the sugar paste tecnique, so that my bouquet of roses last longer indoor. It dries like plastic. I have not tried checking if the humidity will soften it outside. Great product. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Odd but nice *by C***C on Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2023* This clay is packaged with 3 different wrappings, the last being plastic wrap. It's an odd clay to work with because 1.) it does not stick to the hands, however it sticks to everything else 2.) If using a silicone mold I highly suggest following another reviews advise and put it in the freezer for 10-15 minutes otherwise you won't get it out of the mold 3) it is flexible once dry and it does dry translucent (at least the ones I did are) which is pretty cool. 4.) It has a different feel to it than regular clay, it's smooth to the touch. and last 5.) you cannot sand this so once out of the mold you will have to take scissors to trim any excess but that is easy to do and it cuts nicely. Overall the molds came out with the detail I was wanting, I will experiment more and see if dusting the mold with cornstarch will help the release. I would recommend giving it a try as I think this has many uses and will be handy to have in my supplies. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great product! *by Y***E on Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2024* I liked that the finished piece came out with ease and great detail. I used my fingertip dipped in water to work it into the mold while smoothing it out. Left it to dry and popped it into the freezer for about 15-20 minutes and it released very easily. I would suggest letting it dry completely then pop into the freezer. The only downside is that because it is soft it lacks a lot of strength so using an armature underneath the clay is advisable. This is great for creating flower petals and leaves and thinner artwork.
