This scanner is sold in different listings by many sellers with and without the cable and also in a set with a cable and stand included. Check each listing and/or condition notes to see what is included and if it's unclear email the seller to verify what is included. **Q: How do you make the barcodes, that your scanner will read on the square register?** A: you don't actually make the barcode, the code is printed on the box or container of store bought item (new in the box). There is number that is under the barcode which is the equivalent of the barcode or UPC (universal product code) and upc's can be bought and used for items on amazon that don't exist on amazon yet. The scanner will not scan the number under the barcode, only a barcode. Great all around scanner. Works on even very small barcodes (couple milimeters tall). I think this is probably like the worlds most popular barcode scanner, I try to buy them used when possible, and can usually find them. Reads all popular barcode types that I know of, and with a little research can be easily adapted to scan even more obscure types.
