The finish is actually more scratch resistant as the factory shell, as tested by its 6 year old operator :). The only issue I encountered were original battery indicator covers do not fit the new shell. The prongs holding the cover to the shell are in a different location,only by 1/8 on an inch, but enough to prevent them from fitting. Included in the package was a ziplock bag containing 4 extra control light covers and 2 extra "headlight" covers. Problem is 3 of 4 control light covers were the same as the original and did not fit. Only one with a obvious different retaining prong configuration fit. (I guess the intent was to provide 2 of one kind and 2 of the alternate kind to cover all build versions, but a lapse in quality control got me 3 +1). I reused one of the old ones, removed the plastic retaining prongs and glued it into place. Installation took about 30 minutes, all screw holes aligned perfect and the seems between the case halves are uniform and even.
