It completely covers the entire mattress, including the backside. Don't put it over the frame, just the mattress part. It is easy to do as there are sewn corners.When I first put this on it did that thing where the middle section would not lie against the mattress. As if it was too small and just suspended there.But I bought Downy wrinkle releaser and misted till the whole cover was damp. Then put heavy objects on the seat, pushed against the back to weigh it down. When it dried it was a perfect fit.I will def be washing on cold and drip drying. When I first got it I tossed it in the dryer for 25 min with a fabric softener to freshen it up but haven't washed yet.The fabric is like a luxe fleece in terms of how it looks. Velvety but not velvet. It is not luxe as far as thickness goes. It is a thin cover. I felt like doing the fabric stretch I mentioned above will help prevent tears. Because I think that when a pet jumps on a cover that is super taught it is easier to rip.I also put no slip carpet pad under the futon. You can't use the velcro straps ikea puts on the beddinge mattress because the cover goes over them. So doing this stopped slippage.Overall, very happy. The custom Beddinge covers online are big bucks. This review is so detailed because I spent so much time reading the questions and reviews for these stretchy covers hoping a Beddinge user would tell me if they worked. Hope this helped someone! ### ⭐⭐⭐ Purple Coffee *by M***E on Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2018* Okay, so 3/5 stars specifically for the “coffee” color... as you can see in the pictures attached, there is a distinct purple hue and looks more purple than brown/coffee, especially in direct sunlignt. You can see how it looks compared to all of my other BROWN furniture/floor/carpet.With that being said, 4/5 for material (yes it’s kinda thin, but it is soft and comfy; kitty loves it) and 5/5 for fit of futon.
