## Description

HP Laserjet Pro 100 Color MFP M175NW

Review: Best printer I've ever owned. - Updating my original review here, as I'm now going on >2.5 years with this printer... PROs: * Effortless wired & wireless network setup via direct ethernet connection (originally Bonjour under Mac OS X 10.8.3; still good under Mac OS 10.11.1). * Perfectly, effortlessly compatible with Apple's AirPrint for iOS (iPad, iPhone). * Solid like a rock -- would probably break windows in north Russian towns if dropped from orbit. * Lasers! * Scanning is crisp and clean (see related Con, below). • Scanning is FAST via Apple's native Image Capture utility!!! About 5 seconds to scan a full page in color at 300dpi -- whether wired over Ethernet or wireless over 802.11n. * Ability to angle control panel & display screen for best viewing. * Very compact, though this isn't a big factor for me. * Likely cheaper in the long run than yet another crappy inkjet. * Nice energy-saving features; wakes from sleep on any user-defined triggering event, as expected. * Fast -- I was waiting for pages 2 and 3 to print, then realized they'd already printed. CONs: * HP Scan results look *terrible* in the HP Scan window, though the actual TIF files generated from scans are excellent. I now simply use Apple's own Image Capture utility instead, and this is great. * No paper tray cover to prevent dust. (I borrowed a paper tray cover from a dead OfficeJet 6210 to compensate, and this works great.) * Toner cartridge rotational load/unload mechanism seems overly complex and prone to mechanical failure. If it doesn't, it may only be because I should't have to use it very often. My last HP-built laser printer lasted 16 years. My last three HP-built inkjet printers lasted 2-3 years each. The math was easy; I'm done with inkjets. The other big difference is that when you pay for a real printer, on-going support in the form of driver updates from HP seems to last a LOT longer. Bottom line, this isn't a disposable device. This is real hardware that should last a while. Coming up on three years now, I still haven't connected it via USB. No reason to -- it's an awesome network printer, so network it!
Review: Good printer, wireless setup is crap - Everything about the printer works great, except the setup for wireless. Wireless setup is the absolute worst implementation I've EVER encountered, and I've been building, selling and working on computers for over 3 decades. The ONLY way to setup wireless is through plugging the printer into the computer via USB, then running the full install routine. If you set it up as USB or Ethernet, then decide to go wireless, you have to uninstall the printer from your computer, plug the printer in to a working USB port, then run the install utility all over again. You can set up Ethernet from the front control panel, but not wireless. And, if you set it up for wireless, you can't leave the USB plugged in, so you can't wirelessly use the printer with other devices, while having it direct connected to a computer. Stupid, HP. Just, plain stupid!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: can you fax from this machine**
A: No it DOESNT FAX!! I'm actually disputing a refund because of that exact reason.

**Q: How fast is 1st copy?**
A: Pretty fast IF the printer is on and ready. I don't use my printer a lot so I leave it off most of the time. When it's on, I am impressed with the speed of the copies.

**Q: does it print double sided pages?**
A: No, it does not. It seems to support some manual duplex option (i.e., it'll print one side, then you put the pages in the other way, and it'll print the other side). But you can ALWAYS do that through software options, and it doesn't have any auto-duplexing in the hardware side, like more expensive or more feature-competitive printers would.

**Q: Does it print 11x17 sized documents**
A: i think it does. I didn't have it v dry long.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great printer for the money.
*by N***N on September 10, 2012*

I bought this HP printer on a Saturday and received it on a Wednesday. Like everything on Amazon I get my purchases very fast. I bought this color laser jet printer for deliability so hopefully it lasts a long time. I still have my old HP Laser jet printer from 5 years ago and finally need to replace the toner. Once I got the printer out of the box and removed all the tape from it, it was time to set up. Other reviews had some minor problems hooking this printer up to their computer. It took me longer to get it out of the box and remove the tape then to set it up. Set up was very easy, 1 power cord, 1 USB cord, my computer, and paper, and in five minutes I was up and printing. The quality of the prints is very clear. This computer will be used mostly by my kids for their school projects. A couple of weeks have gone by and after many prints I am amazed by the quality of the print. Having a wireless printer is way cool. I am very glad I made this purchase. 6 months later and my black toner says its low. I know it's only the demo cartridge so I am hoping the next cartridge lasts a little longer. This would be my only complaint. I found toner cartridges on Amazon for $43 but towards the bottom of the page found another company that sells them for half price. The reviews for Supplies Outlet were OK so I will see. I bought the black toner cartridge from Supplies Outlet and wish now that I bought the HP toner refill. The Supplies Outlet toner cartridge lasted for about a month and now the quality of the print is terrible. My color is still great. I will stick with HP carridges from here on out.
