Our cat is 14. She’s basically a retired diva now. Still glamorous, still grumpy, and absolutely certain that any new item in the house must first be sniffed, ignored, and possibly judged. But this one? She loved it immediately. No dramatic sulking, no suspicious circling — she just walked over, gave it a test scratch, and flopped on it like it was a luxury daybed. Job done. We even do a little routine to encourage her — one of us kneels down and pretends to scratch it (yes, we are those people now), and she just stares like “Are you alright?” before taking over and showing us how it’s really done. She’s using it instead of the carpet — which, frankly, deserves a medal. The mat doesn’t slide, doesn’t fray after two minutes, and she seems to find the texture extremely satisfying (as do we, when it saves the stair runner). If your cat’s in her golden years but still partial to a good scratch — and you’d rather not replace your flooring — this flat-shaped marvel is the mat to get. Bought my own to sprinkle on the box. **Q: how long do theses boards last ?** A: That's relative to how much use it gets. The one I got is still fine and that was a couple of months ago. The cardboard is sturdy so can take quite a bit of scratching. There is a bit of clean up since it is cardboard and when scratched little pieces of cardboard gets on the floor but easily swept or vacuumed. I purchased the board in Jan and the video was taken in March so you get an idea of what it looks like after two months of daily use (multiple times per day). I've seen it more recently and the same side of the board is still being used. I was only looking after my neighbour's cat temporarily when I got it but it's still in good condition for cat use as of recent. I think it's worth the money. And you can flip it over also as there is cardboard on the other side, although the fish picture on the side will be upside down. Plus he liked to sit on it, so double use. **Q: Can rabbits use it** A: Dont know much about rabbits - what they like to scratch - but they could certainly stand or lay down on this pad and might enjoy the surface. My cat certainly loves it. **Q: Is this suitable for outdoors?** A: No. It is cardboard and needs to stay dry. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Flat, fabulous, and fully feline-approved. *by J***L on 27 July 2025* We’ve tried a fair few scratch mats over the years — angled ones, post ones, ones that looked like tiny sofas (why??) — but this flat mat is the winner by far.
