I'm not sure how rugged it really is, but I figured that if it broke, I wouldn't be out a whole lot of money. I can handle that.As the title clearly states, this handle is intended for point and shoot cameras or small camcorders. I have no doubt that it's strong enough for that task and will supply the stability that those kind of cameras lack.However, that's not what I'm using it for...I own a DSLR shoulder rig for my Canon 5D Mk. II and 60D. The rig has one heavy-duty handle on the front that supports roughly half the weight (the other half, of course, is supported by the shoulder rails.) This design leaves one hand free for focusing the camera or adjusting zoom. Unfortunately, the rig is freaking heavy and can be a bit wobbly if I'm moving around. I attached the Clic Stic to the rails at an angle near the front of the rig to hold when I'm not using my free hand to operate the camera. While the description reads "Designed to firmly hold and stabilize all Digital Cameras and Camcorders", I doubt this is what they had in mind. ;) I don't use the handle to bear much weight... just to give a little lateral support. So far, so good! BUT, I'm not putting that much pressure on it. I wouldn't suggest you try to, either.If you're actually using this for a small camera, you should be fine, but a little caution never hurt. Wrap the strap around your wrist and avoid carrying the camera around by just the grip. Entire thing is plastic including the screw. So there's a possibility that the screw may break off. Has a reasonable weight to the handle which makes it a little more sturdy. Good grip size. I use it for my gopro. Fits the tripod mount. Can't complain for the price.
