It stays upright and sturdy & we don’t have to worry about him toppling over. Our grandson is a very big baby and it keeps him very safe and no worries of him flipping over or out especially when his rambunctious older brothers get to jumping in and out of the pool. He has big chunky thighs and has no problem fitting in the leg holes. The canopy is great for keeping the sun off of him, I just wish there was a snap or some type of latch to be able to pull the canopy back to snap out of the way when not needed. It does come off but I would rather not take it off and on in fear of losing the canopy or it becoming a toy with the older brothers!
