The hand had poked out of the top of package. There wasn't even a plastic cover over the bristles. **Q: Did this come packed in a transparent plastic bag / cardboard box or was it shipped loose ?** A: I've purchased two in different sizes. One came in a plastic bag. The other came naked. :-/ **Q: Are the bristles heat resistant?** A: No, not heat resistant. Used my Matfer brush to apply thin coat of oil to a heated pan. Thought it was ok since brush has ‘natural’ bristles, but unfortunately, the tips of the bristles melted slightly and now have a ‘fuzzy,’ matted appearance. Very disappointing. **Q: What are the bristles made of? if they are natural (boar or horse) have they been bleached? (other ads say their "natural bristles" are bleached etc)** A: They are natural. I don't think boar because they aren't very coarse. I've had others that were a huge disappointment because the brush hairs came out while I was using them. That has not happened with this basting brush. It works very well, holding whatever marinade or sauce I am using, and the soft bristles spread it well and evenly. In addition, it cleans extremely well with dish soap and hot water, with nothing residual left in the brush. No loose bristles, wash up easily, dry fairly quickly, and best of all, they spread liquids easily and finely over my doughs before baking. They seem pretty well made. I only handwash these of course, and I’m careful with them, so I’m hoping they’ll last a long time. So glad they offer these here now, there’s no way I could find them locally.
