Therefore it cannot be used on air rifles. **Q: can this be used to lubricate carbon steel knives?** A: good question J-man and to give you a honest answer i really don't know because i have never used Hoppe's Lubricating Oil on nothing but guns, but i am not saying that if the only thing i had was hoppe's i would use it just to see what kind of it would do on my knives, wish i could give you a better answer but that's all i can tell you,Thanks for the question. **Q: will this be good for bicycle gear shifters?** A: I'm not really sure. The gun oil is a higher viscosity (thicker) oil than I would think you would want for a bicycle shifter but then again it might be good for a longer period of time. I would just be worried about dirt build up due to it's thicker properties. It's your call. **Q: Why was oil leaking inside box and on plastic bag for bore snakes. Box not damaged?[** A: Because it was put in the box with no lid on it..... ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Classic Gun Oil, Works Exactly as Expected *by V***L on May 9, 2026* Picked this up as part of a complete cleaning and maintenance setup alongside a cleaning kit and mat. A must for cleaning any firearm. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Awesome ( but doesnt smell like the Hoppe's I remember as a kid? ) *by W***T on August 22, 2026* I use it for just about everything that needs a Fine Lubricant from my high end Bolt Action Ink Pens to Folding Knives and even Clocks. I quit owning Guns since the Army. It seems to be the same old Good Oil as always but doesnt have that ' Smell ' I remember so vividly when growing up? I miss that smell. I would wear it if Hoppe's offered it as a Cologne. ## Frequently Bought Together - Hoppe's No. 9 Lubricating Oil - Hoppe's No. 9 Gun Bore Cleaner - BOOSTEADY Universal Handgun Cleaning kit .22,.357,.38,9mm,.45 Caliber Pistol Cleaning Kit Bronze Bore Brush and Brass Jag Adapter --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pt/products/1208005-no-9-lubricating-oil](https://www.desertcart.pt/products/1208005-no-9-lubricating-oil) --- *Product available on Desertcart Portugal* *Store origin: PT* *Last updated: 2026-10-14*
