Rush 24 vs. Rush 12 (College Student's Perspective)

*by T***K on Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2016*

Rush 24 vs. Rush 12 (College Student's Perspective)Okay so I purchased both the Rush 24 (left) and Rush 12 (right) and compared how each backpack would hold up during the day.I commute 1 hour to my University and I have class from around 10am to 830pm.I carry the following with me;- 13in Macbook air / charger- 4 notebooks- 1 or 2 books- 2 meals from home in plastic tupperware- Calculator / pencils / pens- 2 bottles of tea in glass bottles I drink for health reasons- Flashlight / Paracord / Pocket knifeNow I did fit all that stuff in the Rush 12 besides the glass bottles, but it was extremely tight and I had no where to put my bottles which is an issue. It felt kind of strange on my back like it was almost too small and the rubber pads where rubbing on my back.I put all that in the in the Rush 24 and I had a decent amount of room left over, maybe for a sweater or something else along those lines. The 24 is NOT THAT BIG. It's kinda big, but not obnoxious. I saw other students around campus had even bigger backpacks... **The rush 12 would be a great school backpack if you lived on campus or didn't bring your own lunches from home.**Overall the build quality is great on both backpacks and seems like it will last a long time.

    Best Backpack Ever

*by R***N on Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2017*

------------- Quick Review -------------This is hands-down the best backpack I've ever owned. It is large and roomy, incredibly durable, and has great internal organization. It is perfect for college students with large books or travel anywhere from 3 days to a week long.-------------- Full Review --------------After extensive research, I bought this backpack for the purpose of travel and everyday use. I am an engineering undergrad student with a motorcycle, so I needed a good-sized backpack to carry my books, groceries, and other gear. I also enjoy traveling, and wanted something that would be sufficient for lightweight travel up to a week.** Size and Organization **The Rush 24 is a large backpack. It won't look out of place on its own, but if you add additional molle pouches and fill it completely, it can get a bit unwieldy for use around town. I have several molle attachments, but have found I generally don't need them unless I'm doing a backpacking trip. The main pocket is extremely roomy. Be aware that most of the organizational pockets expand internally, which means you can't expect to stuff the main compartment full AND use the internal pockets at the same time. This has not been a problem for me, and it actually keeps the outside dimensions about the same no matter how you organize your things. The organization on this pack is fantastic. To give a sense of size, the main compartment can fit two gallon-sized milk jugs side by side on the bottom half, while still having 45% of the upper compartment available. Alternately, it can fit two volleyballs, plus a towel and Nalgene bottle in the main compartment. I have also been able to fit one full-face motorcycle helmet (didn't quite zip all the way closed, but compression straps made it quite secure). As a motorcycle rider, this backpack has been crucial to me being able to buy and transport my groceries.Depending on how well you pack, the Rush 24 should be roomy enough to comfortably travel for 3-7 days. I have recently been getting into ultra-lightweight travel, and plan to take this backpack as my only luggage on a 3-week trip to Latin America. I have taken this backpack on numerous weekend trips with schoolwork, a week-long camping/mission trip in Mexico, and two 3-day backpacking trips (with additional molle pouches attached).** Durability and Construction **I have had this backpack over a year, and have not been kind to it. I am extremely satisfied with its durability. The one single issue I've had is the folded-over stitching on the end of one of the compression straps came slightly undone. This was very minor and was easily fixed. Apart from that, it has shown almost no major wear.Be aware that the Rush 24 is is by no means a lightweight backpack. It is made of heavy-duty material nylon molle webbing all over. It's about the largest-sized backpack you can comfortably wear without a waist belt. There are slots built in that do allow a 3rd-party waist belt to be added, but one is not included. I personally have done fine without a waist belt, though it would have been useful on both backpacking trips where I was overloading the pack to its maximum (had to bring full gallon of water with me on one of those). The shoulder straps are very comfortable even with a lot of weight. The molle webbing is super useful. There are four slots on the bottom of the pack for securing a sleeping roll. The black color definitely blends in more around the city, as the military molle webbing is less noticeable. If you plan to get molle attachments, be sure to check what colors those are offered in to see if they'll match. Be aware that Olive Drab and Sandstone/Coyote from other companies may be a slightly different shade (which may or may not be a problem for you).** Picture Details **Photo 1: 3-day backpacking trip in Sequoia National Park.

Excellent EDC bag! Thanks to all you reviewers - you made my decision easy.

*by R***R on Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2014*

Unlike most reviewers, I am a road warrior who travels professionally about 75% of the time. Hopefully, my review can help another group of users. I was looking for a solid pack to replace my well worn (but still serviceable) Swiss Gear bag. Mine is the one that looks like every other EDC bag on the damn plane. I wanted a bag with more storage pockets and a different look. As a business traveler, I did not want to look like I was going to or returning from maneuvers, and the double tap looked like it might be a little less tactical in appearance than the other options for the 24.I was a little concerned that it would be larger than needed, but the 24 seems only slightly larger than the Swiss bag. Like other reviewers, I tend to be very anal when it comes to packing for a trip, especially if I am headed across the pond for a week or two. The other reviews of the 24 sold me. I have had the bag about a week and love it. It has compartments in compartments in compartments! This is where the Swiss bag fell short. While it has several pockets, it wasn't enough to allow me to segregate my chargers, devices, notebooks, ID cards, extra clothes (I often check my roller board, so need one set of clothes JIC), rain gear, thumb drives, passport, blank I-95 forms, munchies, flashlight, etc, etc, etc. It's currently loaded for domestic warm weather travel, so is almost empty by caparison to a winter trip to northern Europe.BTW - I am combat arms vet and understand how a lot of what tactical pros (military, first responder, etc) are looking for in a bag. On weekend, a lot of office gear comes out and gets replaced with hiking and shooting gear.
