Filter) ## Images ![10" Standard Filter Housing, Clear/Black, 1/4" in/out - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/31rNlQJESeL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works well to add an extra RO stage *by J***L on Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2013* I bought this to add an extra stage of filtration to my 4-stage  Reverse Osmosis Water Filter System .Originally I hooked it up as the 3rd stage filter (with a 1 micron sediment filter, to protect the RO filter), right before the RO filter itself (so there was a 5 micron sediment filter, then a KDF/GAC filter, then this one), but have since changed it to be the 5 micron sediment pre-filter due to it being clear and allowing me to see visually when the filter needs changing, with the next two stages being a KDF/GAC filter and then a carbon block filter, as you would normally find in a 5-stage system (eliminating the 1 micron filter as it wasn't needed to protect the RO filter).The housing works very well and there have been no leaking problems that weren't solved by lubing the rubber gasket and being more careful when tightening it. I had to get the mounting bracket separately, but this is a pretty standard housing so most any bracket for this purpose would work.Where I live you need to change out the sediment filter more often than the rest of the filters (especially with the KDF/GAC filter I'm using that's rated for 10,000 gallons -  Pentek UDS-10EX1 Bacteriostatic KDF and Carbon Filter Cartridge, 9-3/4" x 2-7/8", 5 Micron ). This was not only handy with the clear housing so I can visually see when it needed changing, but I was able to place it next to the door and don't have to disturb the rest of the filtration system to change the one filter, which can induce leaks that would never happen if it were just left alone.I actually also added a 6th stage to this system with a remineralization filter -  Watts Premier 560060 pH Balancing Ceramic 13-Inch Filter with 1/4-Inch QC Fitting . I put this after the polishing filter (so it's the final stage). Boy does it make a difference in how the water tastes! It now is closer to commercial bottled water or the water you get from the vending machines and most importantly it doesn't go stale after a few hours of sitting out after it's been poured.So between this filter housing and the remineralization filter, I'm getting excellent water at home that's on par with commercial offerings, and with easy maintenance I'm more inclined to check it often and actually replace the filters when needed.James ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Did what I needed *by P***R on Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2014* I bought this to replace part of a multi filter unit that had broke from freezing one winter. Standard sizes and mounting holes allowed me to put this in the old ones place.The only difference between this and the one I replaced was that on the one I replaced, the Clear housing had the male threads, and this is reversed. They both have the same mounting pattern for screws on the lid, both have the threaded in/out fittings in the exact same place, and both hold the same size filters. a 5 minute repair instead of buying a new unit for 150$+! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pretty Dang Solid! *by G***E on Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2015* I am astounded at the quality -especially for the price.
