This is a vintage measuring cane. I always thought they were neat and always wanted one. I purchased it knowing that being vintage it may not be as functional as I wanted. I can use it, I just have to be careful when I do so, especially since I don't have a solid floor to use. I was really hoping it would be functional as well as a conversation starter, however I really don't feel comfortable using it with my younger horses, which is who I really need it for. I love my measuring cane. It's unique, it can be used effectively I just choose not to. It will continue to be a treasure. I have recently been able to find the modern measuring sticks and have ordered one since it'll be more effective for my squirrelly youngsters. I won't be retiring it any time soon. I'm thinking of getting a cane tip for it and using it as a walking cane.
