Especially during those super cold snowy days - This is the 4th time purchasing this seed & it’s always amazing. Bag never damaged & seed is perfect in condition & perfect in size for the large variety of birds that frequent my many feeders. If the seed is too large it’s hard for my tiny birds like the yellow & purple finches to easily eat. I put the sunflower medium chips in 2 of my Brome Squirrel Buster Plus feeders & works well with no clogging or seed falling to the ground with these feeders. Also this large bag is a good value & very convenient as I was buying very small bags from Walmart & they never had but about 4-5 bags so I was always running out then this last year I can’t even find it there anymore. I have found the full sized chips (seeds) at one other farm store but again bags very small & value is less. Also the full sized are not the size I prefer as stated above. The bag states is is a product of the USA. Birds love it and no mess compared to regular mixed bird seed. **Q: Can you please include a photo of the actual seed? My wild finches will take whole seed, bite it in half and spit one half on the ground.** A: If you go to the Amazon website, there are some pictures of the seed similar to what you will get with this product. Simply put, it’s whole seed kernels, so your finches will spit out half. There might be kernels that are sold broken, but I have not looked for such a product. **Q: any reason people can't eat these nutritious seeds??** A: Check with Shafer Seed, but I think it is not sterelized, and there may be impurities mixed in with it. Not people grade if you will. Most likely not done under regulations for people consumption. The equipment which processes it is probably not okay for human food. Seed chips are the correct size, are relatively clean, and had very few foreign objects (other grains, sticks, etc) in the bag. They are very similar to the smaller packages I have purchased at pet and grocery stores. Birds love them from my feeder.
