**Q: Fits 3 gal containers purchased around 2005? How do you remove the spigot? I don't want to force it open and break it. Mine is dirty but still works.**
A: Look on the inside where the spigot comes in.The plastic piece is a hex retaining nut use Cresent wrench and unscrew it counterclockwise while holding the outer piece.The nut will screw of and the spigot will pull out.

Perfect fit. I have a 2 gallon jug that needed a new spigot. It fit perfectly. I just wish it came with instructions or haf a diagram to show the orientation of each part. I figured it out because logically they only fit one way but it took a little trial and error.
