Review: Great pump worth the money - My manual breast pump appeared to be giving up the ghost - I wasn’t sure if it was the pump or my supply giving up on me. I bought this whilst on sale with the hope it was my old pump giving up. This is easy to put together and apart to clean/sterilise. It’s relatively quiet and is more comfortable than my manual pump. The controls are very easy to use and respond quickly if you want to slow it down/speed it up. Would totally recommend and although it’s expensive it works brilliantly so in my view is worth it. My only annoyance is the measuring part starts at 50ml on the bottle provided!

We chose medela because its the same one I used at the maternity hospital. The pump is fantastic. The suction is excellent with a wide range of strength to choose from and I can easily pump at least 80ml per breast. Dad can now do a night feed, which is great! Super easy to clean and sanitise. My only issues are that you have to hold it in place so stuck to the sofa a bit, and it only comes with one bottle. I was given a couple of medela bottles that fit by the hospital thankfully, as they're really expensive to buy! Really helped us keep going with breastfeeding. 2 months in now and very grateful for this pump.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Milk leaks out from the top of the bottle under the connector part during pumping. How can I stop the leaking?**
A: I would suggest contacting the Medela customer service team on 0161 7760400.  The fit between the bottle the connector does allow for air to enter the bottle, otherwise the pump would not be able to draw the breastmilk from the breast into the bottle, but this should not cause any issue when pumping.

**Q: Is it wearable?**
A: The pump can be used with an expression bra

**Q: Which cup would fit (21 or 24mm) for a D cup size?**
A: Deffo going to need the 24mm. I only use this if will be out and about because it doesn’t empty the breast fully unless you are happy to spend 30 mins on each breast on the highest setting. Get the Ardo hospital grade one for home and a expressing bra. You can thank me later haha

**Q: If I put both battery and plug, which power I’m using**
A: If the unit is plugged in, you will be using the mains power

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good value basic electric pump

I used the Symphony in hospital and was able to loan it at home, but I wanted a portable pump to take with me or to pump while holding the baby after feeding (I use the hands-free bustier). Initially I was surprised how noisy this pump is (compared to the Symphony) so it might not be ideal if ultimate discretion is important for you, but after using a few times it doesn’t seem to remove any less milk than the Symphony with which I was pleased, I feel like the suction is powerful enough for me but also gentle. It’s comfortable, compact, easy to assemble and clean. Personally I found the clip on the back of the motor useful and seemed to stay quite well on leggings - it would be more secure on something with a thicker waistband, but it stayed fine enough for me to get up to answer the door for example. There is also the option to put a tie through the loop at the top. It initiates with the first phase to stimulate let down which is effective for me. I would only say that Medela would be better to supply with the ‘old’ hard plastic flanges/breast shields (not the soft silicone) - I use my flanges from hospital as I find the new silicone flanges leak. All in all I was pleasantly surprised and makes for a good basic pump, if it’s not on the mains however this pump eats through batteries, so I’m going to try the Freestyle which I think will better meet my needs for a rechargeable and double pump unit.
