I bought this because I wanted an analog/digital with a with a better read out than my Casio AW 81, and this certainly did not disappoint. At first, I was unsure because the band was uncomfortably stiff, and the watch was definitely plastic. Plastic case, plastic buttons, and an acrylic crystal. However, this is a quality time piece. I synced up the secondhand with the digital read out which occupies the bottom of the watch face. I have a Casio analog/digital that is nice and it’s comfortable and it is easy to read, but its light is useless! This watch, however, has Indiglo! And the best part is when you activate the Indiglo it actually lights up the digital characters with the same blue glow. And it has a really cool feature that Timex has been putting on many of their recent releases…a night mode. If you press the button for the indigo and hold it down for 3 to 4 seconds it will automatically go into a night mode. With a night mode, any one of the buttons will light up the screen for three seconds. That feature alone makes this the one of the best watches Timex makes! Review: The Coolest Timex Watch In Years - This is the nicest looking watch Timex has done in a long time. I have worn their Expedition watches before, usually my watch of choice for deployments, because they are basically indestructible. And if they do get scuffed or beat up, they do not cost a fortune to replace. I like the features of this particular watch. The rotating bezel is a major plus. The crystal is slightly recessed behind the bezel to protect it from scratches. And the watch is waterproof. The visibility of the dial and hands is excellent both in daylight and using the awesome Indeglow feature. The nylon fabric watchband is double layer of contrasting color and looks good. The band is stiff for a fabric band, but is surprisingly comfortable and smooth feeling on the arm. I found myself forgetting to take it off at night. I like the analog/digital combo. The digital area defaults to time. It is small and does not light up with the Indeglow. A single button press brings up the date, which is a plus. There are too many features to the tiny digital area: timers, lap, time zones, alarm, etc. With only 3 buttons to seek and set everything, it can be fiddly. Overall, this is one tough watch that is more than it has a right to be. The instructions are too difficult to follow and does not produce expected results.** A: Here's a bit of an orientation. Put your watch down on the table. Note there are four buttons; "A" at 8 O'Clock is for selecting the mode or sub-mode. "B" at 10:00 is the indiglo light; we won't need it. "C" at 2:00 is the change value button. "D" at 4:00 is the "set"/"accept settings" button. There are two digital times you can set on this watch; the regular time and the second timezone (labelled T2). Hit the "Mode" button (A) until time OR date you want to change is displayed (the watch can be set to display either the digital time OR the date). Now press and hold the set/accept button (D); you'll see the word "Hold" appear. Hold the button down until the world "Hold" disappears. You are now setting the time and everything you do will be interpreted that way until you hit the set/accept button again to save your input.Notice that the seconds value in the time is flashing. IF you want to change the seconds, hit the "change value" button (C) to set them to zero. You can use this to synchronize the digital time on the watch *exactly* to another clock with a second hand.Hit the mode button (A) and the hour will start flashing. There is a light,but it only illuminates the face and not the digital readout. It's been fine for the times I've needed to see what time it was in the dark. **Q: Can the digital display be set for military time?** A: It's hard to see but just outside the 1 -12 is the military time. 1 is 13 , 6is 18. I believe when you set up the digital side you can set it for military. Setup was OK. The wrist strap is very stiff and hard to close and open, but I suppose it will get better with usage.
