I'm just somebody who enjoys having a go at upgrading cars I own as much as possible. Having purchased a BMW e91 Touring M-Sport recently, I also purchased a replacement Android stereo to allow me to have DAB+, Google Maps, hands free calls etc. etc. Fitting the stereo was much easier than in previous cars, the (CANbus compatible) wiring was pre-configured to allow the steering wheel controls to work out of the box; not something I've come across with previous Japanese cars (Lexus and Toyota). Having fitted the stereo, everything worked as expected. However, I had lots of noise/interference through the speakers. Both DAB+ and FM as well as with nothing playing. It was a mixture of a high pitched tone that changed when accelerating and a lower pitched 'crackle' type of sound. Research suggested numerous potential causes, but most people pointed to alternator whine/ground issues as the culprit. Sadly it made no difference at all so I returned it for a refund. I don't know that my 1 star review is fair as seemingly other people have had great results with these for similar applications, but for me it was no improvement.
