I have arthritis, especially bad in the thumbs, and if that weren't enough I have trigger thumb. I don't understand some of the 'this doesn't work' reviews. I'm weaker than probably 95% of people AND with arthritis, and this has been the best thing ever! Happened to break my arm the month after I bought this and it has become invaluable! I can not recommend this item enough. It is so easy that it was actually shocking when I first got it home. Everything from a bottle of water to a 4" diameter lid. Super easy even though many things for me are prohibitive with no strength and arthritis, and now the damaged arm/hand. **Q: One answer said the wide end was 4.5" wide. But can a 3.75" dill pickle jar lid fit far enough in to the opener to grip it and facilitate opening it?** A: No. This opener only works well on lids under 3". **Q: Does it open something as small as a half-litre pop bottle?** A: Yes works for all sizes of jars and bottles. **Q: Is this supposed to have teeth on both sides or just one?** A: I have an old - 10 or so years? - OXO, and it has teeth only on one side. Only the teeth are metal - there is a non-serrated slim insert on the other side. Works very well...... ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to use and care for. *by on Reviewed in the United States September 29, 2026* Best grater ever. Easy to wash and drying. I mostly use on blocks of hard cheese, like parmasean cheese. I grate what I need and put rest of the block in a zip lock bag and put in the refrigerator. Last a long time and taste much better than store bought grated cheese. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works as advertised and simple to use *by on Reviewed in the United States August 25, 2026* Best jar opener I have ever found and works for small containers like RX bottles as well as larger Mayo jars. Great when your hands need a little help or a sadist was the last to close something. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for people with hand impairments *by on Reviewed in the United States July 24, 2026* Great product — excellent for people with hand arthritis. A slightly longer handle would make it perfect. ## Frequently Bought Together - OXO Good Grips Jar Opener with Base Pad - Otstar Jar Opener Bottle Opener and Can Opener for Weak hands, Seniors with Arthritis and Anyone with Low Strength, Mutil Jar Opener Get Lids Off Easily (Blue and Grey) - LUTER 4pcs Jar Opener, Rubber, Multi-function Silicone Bottle Opener for Seniors with Arthritis Weak Hands Lid Cap Gripper Pads Kitchen Coasters Gadgets(Light Blue, Green) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pt/products/1359895-oxo-good-grips-jar-opener-with-base-pad](https://www.desertcart.pt/products/1359895-oxo-good-grips-jar-opener-with-base-pad) --- *Product available on Desertcart Portugal* *Store origin: PT* *Last updated: 2026-10-23*
