Fit perfectly in the side of my backpack even though it is a little bit thicker than the regular umbrellas. Auto open worked perfectly every time. Contracting it worked well also but was a little bit of a bother to collapse it. Found that by just turning it upside down on the ground and pushing on it did the trick. ### ⭐ poorly constructed *by V***N on Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2019* first use - the umbrella would not stay open. after several attempts to keep it open, i tried to close it - wouldn't close. carried it around the ruins of Pompeii, Italy - closed but not able to fold it down to put it into the bag. 104 degrees and walking on rocks - tossed it in the trash. Later called Amazon only to be told that they couldn't do anything because I no longer had the umbrella.
