Review: Sedu beat out GHD...by a hair. :) - I've owned a Sedu flat iron for the last 7 years and absolutely loved it. Always worked great and never lost heat. When the electrical element finally started getting a little spotty (it would still turn on, I just had to mess with the On button a bit), I decided to see what else was out there after so many years. I have lots of friends with GHDs who love them, so I read a ton of reviews, watched some cute little teenagers trying to do comparisons for their 10 YouTube followers (I think those are hilarious...poor girls have no idea how to formulate a sentence and flat iron at the same time). In the end, I decided that not much had changed over the last 7 years in the technology, but I thought I'd give the GHD and Sedu both a fair shot and compare them myself. So I got them both, let my hair air dry (it's naturally curly...and not in a pretty way...like in a frizzy, wild, scary way) and then used one on each side. Here's what I found: Price: GHD $121, Sedu $100 (if I had gotten the black Sedu, it would have been $178, but I actually like this dark purple) Material: GHD has a rougher feeling exterior, the same as my old Sedu, which would attract dirt and hairspray like you wouldn't believe. I can't tell you how much time I spent scraping caked on hairspray off of it. Anyway, the Diamond Sedu has a smoother exterior, which looks like it'll be easier to clean. Style/Options: Both 1" (Sedu has more curved edges, which I find easier for curling the ends of my hair under); both heat up quickly (GHD was seriously 5 seconds, Sedu was about 30...I can handle either of those times); both have an auto shut-off (Sedu just added that to this Diamond version), Sedu has a temp control where GHD doesn't (it's supposed to adjust to your hair, which seems to work well) Use: They both straighten really well...one run over a section of my scary curls totally smooths them out. They're both SO much better than the cheaper brands I've tried (recently also tried the HSI which got terrific reviews, but there's really no comparison to these two...wouldn't even put it in the running). The big difference is that the GHD would catch and pull on my hair a bit...not much, but enough to where I have to think about it. The Sedu doesn't catch at all...super smooth and I can go over any amount of hair that I want to. I also found myself going over the GHD side with the Sedu as I was finishing and styling without even thinking about it...that right there kind of made the final decision for me. :) In summary, I'm sticking with the Sedu and returning the GHD. Both are quality products, but the Sedu edged out the GHD and if it lasts as long as my first one, I'm happy to pay a bit more for it than the cheaper straighteners for what I'm getting. Hope this review helps someone else who's looking to buy!

### ⭐ Doesn’t work after 3 years
*by M***K on September 17, 2015*

I have long thick indian hair and this magic wand straightens them out in less than a minute. Getting ready just got easier! Update: mine got burned out after 3 years....
