Finally opted for black rice and this one in particular as the price per kilo was the best. Known as forbidden rice in days gone by in China because of its rarity, it was only eaten by royalty. We've just tried it for the first time - chewy and flavoursome (nutty) - it takes longer than white basmati to cook though that is not surprising - around 30-35 minutes but well worth the wait. We coked a mixture of black rice and long grain brown rice - worked really well.
