Hat channel went in securely after using tounge and groove pliers. Drywall going up soon so I'll update this review to compare against a section of basement that's just using resilient channel.

So good. But I had trouble releasing the genie from the clip. Once I did he only gave me one wish. But that's fine because my wish was to reduce the vibration and sound transmission from people walking upstairs. And it worked.
