I have a lot of data to archive and USB2 just isn't fast enough and the USB3 SSDs I have been using din't seem to like USB2 on the Mac at all and occasionally wouldn't boot, but that problem has gone . The addition of of the Sonnet card it has made backing up from mechanical hard drives to solid state drives much faster . Seems to work a lot faster backing up from a USB3 drive dock to a USB 3 storage device than from the internal drives .
