In the past, homeowners had to put up with the inefficient venting of their dryer appliance exhaust due to numerous friction causing bends or kinks in the flex transition hose that connects the dryer to the wall exhaust pipe. Lint build-up and a fire hazard are the unwelcome bi-products of these annoying bends. I used it for an upstairs laundry in an existing plaster/ wood lathe wall. Getting the 4" pipe into the oval opening was a challenge but I was fishing it from the attic through the top plate. I had to trim the plaster off the inside of the wall cavity to get this to fit. I would think that using it in a drywall wall or new construction would have been much easier. This is designed to sit on the studs. I used spray foam to seal up the wall. It made the hook up a breeze for the stacked dryer.
