Because these shorts are "low-rise", the padding didn't cover the spots where she is bruised (it fell just below and around to the side - the waistband of the shorts actually fell across the bruises). Also, the padding was relatively large, so it wasn't very comfortable where her leg bends. I liked that the padding was a little thicker than some of the other shorts I have seen, but with the extra thickness, placement becomes even more important.
