Review: Made in Spain, not China - I love it! I needed to replace my instapot but didn’t want anything from China. I’m learning to use it but have made wonderful chicken that was fast and tasty. It’s so easy. It makes rice perfectly.
Review: In love with my pressure cooker - A great purchase. Magefesa and Fagor are the two real brands for pressure cookers and you will notice how well build the cooker is. It works great and I love to use it a lot. I have used it for my own recipes and used the recipes in the Magefesa website ( http://www.e-magefesa.com/index.php?option=com_phocadocumentation&view=section&id=2&Itemid=17&lang=en ) and YUMMY!!! I have used aluminum and steel pressure cookers before. The aluminum ones rust and do not distribute the heat as well. This cooker in particular is great distributing the heat. You can see the thick multilayered bottom which is designed for this purpose and does a fantastic job. You realize of this when you open the cooker and you see that there is nothing stacked to the bottom like in cheaper models, where some areas are heated more than other and the food gets stacked and not evenly cooked. The handles feel very sturdy and solid even after months of use (I've had it for 6 months using it one to three times a week). The pressure regulator can be removed and washed. This is something I have never seen before in these kind of cookers and it is very nice, because the regulator always gets a little build up and end up failing. But in this case you can take it off and clean it. The manual have some typos and sloppy translations but frankly nothing too terrible, and it is super easy to use. These cookers are built in Spain and are not cheaply done in china, so there is an extra level of quality there. The only con is that is a little heavy, but after all it is stainless steel so what could you expect.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Experience necessary - but you have to learn somehow.
*by M***T on November 19, 2010*

With no previous experience with pressure cooking I figured I'd ruin some food. I did, the first time. The manual is not too helpful. The grammar is not all correct and it could be written with more of the newbie in mind. I suppose I could call customer service (they provide a Miami phone number) but I'm not one to do that if it looks like there is no problem with the unit (and there is not - they’ve tested the heck out of this unit, I’m sure). However, I'm sure they'd provide good help in how to use this unit if I really got stuck trying to figure it out. That being said, the next time I used the cooker, the food came out nearly perfect. The cooker performed as I expect it should. The first time, like in other reviews on this product, steam came shooting out from around the gasket and it dripped all over the stovetop. I followed what I thought the manual was saying to do and I destroyed the food and had to scrub hard on the bottom to get it clean again as well as air out the house. I found the brushed stainless surface on the inside of the unit makes it a little difficult to clean deeply. Also, there is a mark on the inside showing the maximum level of food/water to put inside the unit (at about 2/3 up from the bottom), as well as a 1/2 level mark. After that experience, I thought in logical terms about how the pressure cooker should work and proceeded the next day to make a real meal. I found that, as the manual states, starting the cooker on high heat, works. Upon further use, I found starting out at too high of a temperature (on an electric stove) causes a sudden overflow of moisture to escape from the valves (making a mess) as the water inside comes to a boil. I have had greater success with a slower ascension to high pressure/temperature. I now start out at medium-high temps and have no boil-overs. Also, I find that if the gasket begins spitting moisture, a simple press down on the lid (briefly), near the leakage instantly stops it. That’s more of a rarity since using the lower temperatures. The unit has two valves. A small red one that pops up when the unit is initially pressurized (timing is suppose to start at this point). Then as the unit reaches high pressure, steam pours out the black "safety valve". This valve on this unit has two settings (high and low). In the manual, it sounds as if they want you to turn down the heat when steam starts to pour out this valve, I turn it down to about half of my maximum temperature (medium-high). The unit is doing what it should - maintaining pressure while releasing excess pressure to keep the unit from exploding (even though it won’t). Just be certain that steam is escaping from the spring loaded (black) safety valve. I sometimes encourage the release of steam by pressing the valve down and sideways a little to make certain it’s “breathing”. Experience comes in handy when trying to figure out how long to cook and how much water to use with whatever food your cooking. So expect to ruin some food if you've never used a pressure cooker before. I wouldn't blame this unit for any problems though. It's a good unit with multiple, redundant safety features that make perfect sense and function properly without much help from you or the manual. Just keep the valves cleaned and maintained and you should never have a problem. Good luck - you can do it! UPDATE 2024: This pressure cooker is still functioning as new. I use mine only for beans and have the water, temp setting and timing down to a science - the results are perfect every time.
