Are they to be cut off?** A: Yes they are.You can trim them slightly with a safety razor, many people put a piece of scrap glass on top of the grinder grid-much smoother as you grind, chips stay on top of the scrap glass.. It will last several years if you do a lot of stained glass work. Eventually the part that holds the glass will wear down from use. But I could not live without mine. The jaws are a little off center, but that doesn’t affect the strength of the clamp.
