For a use by date for example - for office use.** A: Indeed you can. If you use a water based felt tip it will wash off easily too. **Q: What diameter bottle top do these fit? Will they fit 3.5cm opening? Thanks** A: Yes that is what they are made for 3.5cm pint bottle of milk. **Q: Do these hold well enough to lay a bottle of milk on its side in the fridge?** A: I never tried that, but I suspect the answer is no . . . I would not be confident to attempt this, and I am not sure I would store a milk bottle horizontal even with the supplied foil top. However, it is possible that the specific milk bottles we have delivered have a smaller circumfence than other suppliers.
