## Description

CATAN is the original strategy board game. Get ready for the incredibly fun and adventurous game loved around the world. CATAN is an easy-to-learn board game for family and friends that anyone can play! Since the release of CATAN (at that time still The Settlers of CATAN) in 1995, the game has developed into a modern classic board game that is available worldwide in over 40 languages. To date, over 40 million games have been sold. With numerous extensions and additions, everyone can create their own personal gaming experience and immerse themselves in the world of CATAN. Trade, build, and settle your way across CATAN! Your adventurous settlers seek to tame the remote but rich isle of CATAN. Start by revealing CATAN's many harbors and regions: pastures, fields, mountains, hills, forests, and deserts. The random mix creates a different board in virtually every session, making the perfect board game for adults and kids. No two games are the same! Embark on a quest to settle the isle of CATAN! Guide your settlers to victory through clever trading and cunning development. Use resource combinations - grain, wool, ore, brick, and lumber - to buy handy development cards and build roads, settlements, and cities. Acquire your resources through trades, cards, or lucky dice (even outside your turn). But beware, someone might cut off your road or buy a monopoly. And you never know when the wily robber might steal some of your precious gains. Now you can settle CATAN with up to 6 players. If you want to play the CATAN base game with 5 or 6 players, just add this base game extension. CATAN is loved by families and recommended for kids ages 10 or older. Explore more with other CATAN strategy board games such as the CATAN Seafarers Expansion!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will the extension work for the expansions as well? say i wanted to add more player to seafarers**
A: yeah if you don't get this 5-6 player expansion you won't have the main pieces to play the 5th and 6th players in seafarers. however if you just want to play four players, you can with seafarers expansion... there are also a 1-4 version of seafarers, and a 5-6 extension of seafers. so you need to buy 4 things to play seafers with 6 players. sorry if that doesn't make sense i think i did like the crappiest job of explaining..

**Q: My base Catan is the 3rd edition (off-white box, with red sides and the crest in the upper left). Will this expansion work with the 3rd edition?**
A: The changes are all aesthetic. The card backs and tiles have different art work, so your board/pieces will look mismatched and the cards will look different. But they can be used together.

**Q: Is there an easy way to tell which pieces belong to which set (for ease of separating the two afterwards, if I want to go back to 3-4 people again)?**
A: An easy way my family has always done it is, after opening the expansion pack (or determining what is part of the expansion pack if you have already opened it) is we put a small E on the back of the expansion pack pieces, and then keep them in a separate package as well.

**Q: Have you tried this with 4 players and found that it makes the game more enjoyable (less crowded board, less spacing conflicts)?**
A: Have played with 5 players. I think that using the expansion pieces with 4 players would definitely make it easier to acquire resources.
