A: Yes you could. The wood is easily stained. The surface area of the canvas will be smaller but it’s doable

A: The 1”

**Q: Can you paint on them with other paint that isnot acrlyc paint?**
A: I'm sure you can use any type of paint that is opaque.  Watercolor would probably not work.  I use them for felt collages.
