Probiotic is also added to help breakdown organic waste in your pet's enclosure. One very important element in keeping land hermit crabs alive in captivity is to fill your crab's tank with sand deep enough (minimum depth of 3 times the size of their shell) and moist enough (packs well) that your largest crab is able to bury completely to molt successfully. It is a small quantity but I liked the texture as a topper once I got my play sand and coco coir mixed up. This doesnt dry out fast and it doesnt go rock hard. It stays a really nice sand castle consistency. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hermit Crabs love it *by on Reviewed in Canada 21 January 2020* I have three hermit crabs who just love this sand. It doesn't clump or get caught in their shells and when its time for molting or burrowing under to sleep they do so with ease. Would recommend. Kind of expensive but it stays moist long rather than drying up. ## Frequently Bought Together - Fluker's All Natural Premium Hermit Crab Sand Substrate, Sand Mixture with Coconut Fiber, For Hermit Crab Tanks, 6 lbs. - Fluker's Soaking Salt for Hermit Crabs, 2.4 oz - Zoo Med Hermit Crab Mineral Blocks --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pt/products/142830490-flukers-all-natural-premium-sand-substrate-mixture-for-hermit-crabs](https://www.desertcart.pt/products/142830490-flukers-all-natural-premium-sand-substrate-mixture-for-hermit-crabs) --- *Product available on Desertcart Portugal* *Store origin: PT* *Last updated: 2026-10-12*
