Made from seaweed, they absorb fluids (exudate) from covered wounds and form a protective gel layer. Best of all, they don't stick to the wound, unlike normal gauze, making for much easier changing, cleaning, and wound maintenance; if at all sticky, just irrigate with some saline or sterile water, and they'll release. I don't understand why anyone, given the choice, would subject themselves to the pain and problems of normal gauze when there's a product like this available!Our colorectal surgeon required this for pilonidal cyst wound care -- cut in thin strips to fill wound. It's the best wound dressing for pilonidal cyst surgical wounds, covered with gauze and or menstrual pads. Each sheet easily cuts into strips of whatever size you need. Best wound filler!Works well on the oozing venous stasis/diabetic leg. Absorbs excess of exudate in the wound and keeps it clean and adequately moist . It is easy to remove the dressing, it does not stick. Ordered more. They stick to the skin pretty well, were soft and comfortable, absorbent and my husband uses them on His lower back over a surgical lumbar fusion incision. Used skin prep wipes first so that makes stuff stick better. Ordered those on Amazon as well in a box of 50. I think they were easier on skin. Adhesive wasn't irritating.
