At least it sure seemed to be confirmed when I found that my phone was stuck in safe mode. No matter how many times I restarted or totally shut it off and restarted it, it started in safe mode. When I looked up the causes for this, one suggestion was that buttons were being held down while restarting. I took the cover off, and restarted and it was restored to normal operation. This is space for some buttons but not all.
