No wires involved at the microphone end. The transmitter and rechargeable battery is inbuilt and the receiver with inbuilt rechargeable battery just needs to be plugged into an amplifier. No set up required. Quality is good but tends to be lacking on the bass end of the spectrum but ideal for barn dances as I use it. Charging cable has 2 outlets so you can charge receiver and transmitter at the same time from a USB Socket.
