## Questions & Answers

**Q: is rotel gluten free?**
A: My daughter has Celiac Disease (an immunological disorder) and has been sick for two days, perhaps from Rotel. I made black bean soup over the weekend and used a can of Rotel. I don't know if that was the problem, but the canned black beans and canned diced tomatoes were organic and labeled gluten-free. My cooking pot, cutting board, knives, and spoons were purchased as replacements after my daughter was diagnosed with Celiac Disease two years ago, so they don't have gluten in any scratches, etc. Very disappointing. I have since order Santa Fe Ole roasted green chilies from Amazon (after corresponding with the manufacturer) and that company has been gluten-free since 2014. So there will be no more Rotel in my house. I'l use green chilies and tomatoes in the future, rather than Rotel. I can't be sure it was the Rotel but unsure can equal unsafe for my daughter. This isn't a problem for persons who are just choosing to go gluten-free but for a person with Celiac Disease, gluten can do harm to the small intestine even when there isn't a physical reaction

**Q: How hot/spicey is this? Using it in chili & some are hot hot/spicey lovers? On a hot scale of 1 (mild) to 5 (very hot) how would people rate it?**
A: On a Thai-food scale that goes from 1 to 5, I'd say the Mild Rotel – if not heated! – is maybe 1.5/5, but not more then 2/5. But if you COOK it, it will get spicier and spicier (hotter and hotter), up to 3+. After all, it does have chilies in it! Eating it at room-temperature or cold (and never cooked), the Mild doesn't seem spicy-hot to me at all.

The Mild is certainly more-mild than their Original, straight out of the can. This and the Original are two of my favorite items to add. I love the flavor.

And if I am eating dinner, after having two meals already, I'd prefer the Original flavor. But the Mild is almost as good. I prefer these Rotel over the Amazon Happy Belly brand (as of 2022, when I last had that, anyway).

But, I prefer the Rotel Mild if it is my first or lunch meal of the day, when my tastebuds aren't quite ready for anything spicy-hot. Otherwise it is too spicy for my enjoyment. (When I eat Thai food for dinner, I like my noodles and curries Medium, around 2.5 or maybe 3.)

**Q: are there onions in the spices ?**
A: Nothing listed in the ingredients

**Q: Is rotel soy free?**
A: tomatoes with juice, water, chopped green chili peppers, less than 2% of : salt, calcium chloride, citric acid, spice, natural flavor

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice value!

Damaged cans that can't be put on the shelf work just fine going into a stew. Nothing wrong with dented cans especially since you are just going to throw them away. These are not expired cans. Actually I thought the delivery process damaged the cans until it dawned on me why they were less then 1/2 price off. Stop and shop sells these for 2.39 a can!
