As other people have said, put a dollop in your palm and rub your hands together to warm the wax, then start from the back of your head forward, rubbing it in all over. My hair is thick and worn in a "military taper", 3-4" long on top with a 3/2 clipper fade on the sides and back. Woody's holds it where it needs to be all day and only with a small amount of product (a container lasts me several months). Rub a dime to nickel size amount between your hands and work it through semi-dry hair from back to front, comb it where you want it and go. It will take it a few minutes to "set" but once its there it will stay, the more water you add or the wetter your hair the longer it will take.
