An applicable glance into the past...
Rex Applegate learned from the best- W.E. Fairbairn and E.A. Sykes, men of the Shanghai Constabulary, who fought in over 200 gun battles during their tenure there... Fairbairn and Sykes were recalled to England, prior to World War II, to train those who would soon be in combat, around the world. Royal Commandos, SAS and SBS, MI5 and MI6, these men knew, already many times over, that in order to survive, when confronted by one's enemies, it was "Kill or Get Killed."Prior to World War II, Rex Applegate joined the Army, by way of ROTC, and then went on to become a member of the Military Police. He was selected to learn the intricacies of hand-to-hand combat, by the OSS, and sent to England, to learn from the very best- Fairbairn and Sykes. There, Applegate learned how to properly use the blade, the knife, the handgun, explosives, his body, and most important his mind. He learned well, working with Fairbairn and Sykes, who had even their instructors deployed on missions worldwide, to return, and teach what worked, and did not work. Their methodologies evolved, and their efficiency is written in the annals of the clandestine services.Applegate continued, when he returned to the United States, to build upon the knowledge and experiences of the British. His teaching encompassed the OSS, Marine Raiders, Army Rangers, and others, who worked in the shadows, without back-up or assistance, far behind enemy lines. Today's special operators stand upon the shoulders of men like Fairbairn, Sykes, and Applegate.I heartily recommend this fine book, "Kill or Get Killed," as well as "Bullseyes Don't Shoot Back" with Michael D. Janich," "Combat Use Of The Double-Edged Fighting Knife," "The Close-combat Files Of Col. Rex Applegate," and the still germane DVD "Shooting for Keeps. Point Shooting for Close-Quarter Combat."Additionally, I highly recommend W;E. Fairbairn's seminal works, :"Get Tough," "All-in Fighting," "Scientific Self-defense," "Defendu," and "Shooting To Live." These books have much still applicable to today's situations...The Works of Applegate and Fairbairn are chock full of wisdom, knowledge, and proven techniques- gained by combat unto death, in wars of the shadows- from World War II, through the Cold War, and are used, even today...Do I recommend this book, as well as those I've listed? Yes, without hesitation. The wise man or woman gleans what they will need, in order to survive, in this, an ever increasingly dangerous world... Applegate, Fairbairn, and Sykes would be teaching the same thing today, with variations upon the themes resting in their books...Remember what these men lived- Mindset, skill set, execution...Five out of Five Stars...

Best for Some, No Good for the Rest
Why might someone want to study a martial art?Answers:To improve their physical fitess; To improve their minds or self control; As a sport; As self defense; As police combat; And, as military combat. But how does Kill or Get Killed relate to these reasons? If you want to improve your physical fitness, this book will serve you no purpose: it's relatively egalitarian philosophy means that it is designed to be used by almost anyone with arms.Neither will 'Kill' be any good as a mental improvement course: while many martial arts seek to teach respect and control, 'Kill' and its WWII fellows are designed to put the martial artist into an agresive, well, kill-or-get killed-frame-of-mind.As a sport, you should look elsewhere: some moves are to dangerous to practice on anything but your own hand. Now though, we get into a martial art's "martial" part. There are three: Civilian, Police, and Military. In the first case, in today's "sue everybody" atmosphere, you would probably be thrown in prison for using these techniques against a someone. As for police and the military, I, a rank-and-file amateur, would not presume to tell them their own job, but 'Kill' was written specifically for them, and despite being politically incorrect in places, it is probably still of value. But if you are not one of these professionals, what good is it? I would suggest that it would be useful for anybody who wants accurate, realistic, if slightly outdated/out of fashion, information on hand to hand combat. I, for one, have found it to be of immense value as an adventure fiction writer. At the very least, you'll be able to tell when Captain Kirk's Karate Chops would actually work (they can!), and when Indiana Jones is hip firing in the right manner (there is one!).Happy Reading!

THIS BOOK CAN MAKE YOU ANY THUG`S OR EVIL PERSON`S WORST NIGHTMARE!
IF I COULD RECOMMEND ONLY ONE BOOK TO MAKE YOU THE MOST DANGEROUS AND DEADLY FOE TO ANY VIOLENT PERSON OR GROUP OF THUGS WHO WANTS TO HURT YOU OR YOUR FAMILY IT WOULD BE THIS ONE. MOST PEOPLE CONSIDER THIS THE BEST HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT, WEAPON WARFARE MANUAL EVER WRITTEN. IF YOU WANT TO LEARN THE SKILLS TO BE ABLE TO FIGHT BACK AND WIN THIS IS THE BEST BOOK THERE IS. THIS IS NOT A SELF DEFENSE MANUAL BECAUSE IN SELF DEFENSE YOU WAIT FOR YOUR ENEMY TO ATTACK FIRST. IN THIS BOOK THE AUTHOR TEACHES YOU TO MAKE THE FIRST MOVE AND TAKE OUT THE ENEMY BEFORE HE HAS THE CHANCE TO TAKE YOU OUT. NEVER THINK DEFENSIVELY, THINK OFFENSIVELY BECAUSE A GOOD OFFENSE IS THE BEST DEFENSE. HE TELLS YOU WHERE TO HIT, KICK AND THRUST YOUR FINGERS TO BREAK BONES,NECKS, CAUSE RUPTURE AND INTERNAL BLEEDING TO TAKE OUT A DANGEROUS PERSON AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. ALSO HOW TO USE A KNIFE FOR THE SAME PURPOSE AND HOW TO DEAL WITH SOMEONE WHO COMES AT YOU WITH A KNIFE, GUN, CLUB, BROKEN BOTTLE ETC. ALSO, HOW TO ESCAPE ANGRY MOBS, DEAL WITH RIOTS, AND HOW TO ESCAPE IF MULTIPLY ATTACKERS ARE AFTER AND HOW TO PUT THE HURT ON THEM IF YOU CAN`T RUN AWAY FOR SOME REASON AND MUCH MORE. I CAN`T STRESS ENOUGH HOW VALUABLE THIS BOOK IS. IT IS PERFECT FOR THESE TIMES WE ARE LIVING IN. EVERY FREEDOM LOVING AMERICAN WHO WANTS TO PROTECT HIMSELF, HIS FAMILY OR COUNTRY SHOULD GET THIS BOOK. JESUS IS THE ANSWER AND GOOD BLESS YOU. ROMANS 10:9,10 :)

Good Defense overview
This book has good information for defense along with an historical presentation since it dates to 1962, after WWII and Korea but before Vietnam and 60 riots. Chapter 15 directly applies to what we are seeing now with Defund the Police, BLM and Antifa riots, and cities turning into slums.

Complete book also for weaponed and not weaponed protection. Miss a part in weapons demonstration, the pistols handling is quiet too light or inexistent but lot of nice revolvers . Obviously , the author prefer to protect his life with them.... General a remarkable handbook for self protection . I like it !!!
