## Description

The Newton Gravity III Women's Running Shoes are built for runners wanting a daily training shoe that can also function brilliantly as a faster tempo pace run or a race shoe. It provides versatility for all gaits. The shoes feature five anatomical lugs on the sole, which create a unique running experience. The secret to Newton's distinctive POP sensation? The lugs engage to activate the trampoline membrane for energy return. Enjoy an enhanced ground feel, efficiency and comfort. The new broader P.O.P 1 Platform accommodates the natural foot function. The heel-Enabled Action/Reaction technology provides both rear foot cushioning when you need it, and rebound when you want it. Lightweight, breathable mesh promotes helps to maintain a light weight and promote airflow throughout the shoe, keeping your feet cool during intense periods of running.

great shoe - a tad small, but super, super light. Give your feet a little time in them before decing if you like them.

These are a tad small... not so small I didn't keep them, but I'm not running in them. The extra room one needs to run just isn't there at one size up from my regular. As others reviewed, they do take a little getting used to, even if you're just standing around or walking, but after that, they're pretty comfortable, and as light a shoe as I've ever owned.

Incredibly comfortable, low-drop, lug-system shoes in a striking color combo. I like them better than the newer Gravity IV.

I started looking at Newton Running shoes a few months back while researching vegan running shoes. Newton does not use any animal skins or byproducts in their shoes, making them a great option for vegans like me. After getting to demo several pairs of shoes, I purchased a pair of the Newton Aha 2 women's running shoes in January for transitioning into the Newton Line (and a lower drop shoe) and I quickly fell in love with them. I really like the five lug system and the lower drop of the Newton running shoes, which puts your body into a more natural running position. Since I already have a natural mid-foot strike, transitioning has been going pretty smoothly. I realized, of course, I was going to want a lower drop pair with more responsive lugs in the POP 1 platform for after I am completely transitioned into the Aha 2, so I started looking at Newton's other offerings.I had an opportunity to run in the Newton Fate in January and then I got to test the Newton Gravity IV (the pair that came out after this one) at a Newton Running Clinic just last month. I was looking at buying a pair of Gravity IV, when I noticed these Gravity III's on sale for such a great price here on Amazon. I decided to pick up a pair late last week, making these my second pair of shoes in the Newton Running line. They arrived yesterday, along with a pair of Newton Distance III's that I bought for my husband from the same seller. The shipping was quick, which I appreciate. The Gravity III were the first shoes in the Gravity lineup to offer the five lug system. I have never run in the shoes with four lugs, but I can see a very noticeable difference between the two designs. The five lug system gives you a wider and more supportive base under the midfoot to forefoot area and the lugs align with each of the five metatarsals of the foot, which makes a ton of sense to me. Their purpose of the lugs in both cases is to encourage a mid to forefoot strike for greater running efficiency. I love how the lug rolls under the foot in my Newton Aha 2's. The mid to forefoot transition and responsiveness in these shoes is a bit different (the POP 1 vs POP 3 platforms account for this), but equally enjoyable. While I already have a natural midfoot strike, I find that the lugs and lower drop of the Newton running shoes create a more natural feeling as I run. It's what made me decide to invest more into the Newtons than other vegan running shoe lines, such as Brooks, Pear Izumi or Mizuno. As for these shoes, specifically, let me just say that I already LOVE them. I noticed some subtle, but yet distinct differences between them and the Gravity IV that I had tested last month at the running clinic. The differences, while not extreme, actually make me prefer these shoes over the later model for more than just aesthetics. The first thing I noticed is that the Gravity III has a bit more support in the upper. I believe this is due to the tighter mesh fabric, as well as the overprint design that is absent in the Gravity IV. As a result, the toe box feels a wee bit smaller, making it a better fit for my A/B width feet. In comparison, my Aha 2s are a bit baggy above my toes. I experienced something similar with both the Fate and the Gravity IV when I tested them, as well. The fabric and structure in the upper of these later models is a bit looser - a bit too much for my feet. That is not the case with these Gravity III's. The fit in the upper feels almost ideal. There is still plenty of room in the toe box for my toes to splay, and the fabric stretches well with my foot, but it doesn't feel excessive. The midfoot and heal of these shoes also fit me very well. The most noticeable structural difference to me between them and the later Gravity IV is the more fitted heel shape in the Gravity III. I find the heal in some of the newer Newtons to be rounder and less shaped, which leads to more sloppiness in the heal area for me. In contrast, this pair hugs my ankles very well (as does the midfoot area of the upper). Having heard there were some heal changes to the new Gravity V and Distance V that have just been announced, I am really hoping Newton has gone back to the heal design of these shoes! It just feels so much more secure.Overall, I feel like I have better support in the Gravity III than the Gravity IV. It really fits my foot like a glove, but without being restrictive. The shoes feel very springy and responsive, with the lugs providing a nice bounce-back effect, when pushing off from mid to forefoot. I did some footwork drills after putting them on yesterday and noticed this responsiveness almost immediately. It felt great! And, the strikingly bold pink and yellow color combination is wonderful. Given that I normally shy away from such bright colors, that is saying a lot. These shoes look just as good as they feel and perform.I would most certainly but these shoes again. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

This is one of my favourite and most versatile neutral Newton Running shoes

*by B***S on Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2015*

This is one of my favourite and most versatile neutral Newton Running shoes. This is my third generation of the "Gravity" and I am glad to find it at Amazon for a good prize, great training shoe. I switched from Asics to Newtons about 5 years ago after participating in a Newton clinic at my local running store. I love the bounciness of the shoe. When I go back to my Asics Kinsei it feels like running in deep sand. I have used the Newton "distance" for 1/2 marathons, the Newton Bocco in dirt trails and snow,My Chiropractor is amazed - he now no longer needs to adjust my lower as often as he used to.I have a narrow foot my dress shoe size is 8 1/2. I take a 10 in Newtons for plenty toe space as recommended by the specialist in the .store."The shoe fits"
